Some Background on the HSV Paddlers Club
The HSV Paddlers Club started forming the summer of 2021 and became an official Club Jan 31, 2022. As of a December 2022 count there were 57 Club members.
The Club offers both lake and river events. Lake events are often in the Village but the Club has kayaked Lake Hamilton, Lake Catherine, Lake Ouachita, Lake DeGray, and Nimrod Lake. The Club has had a Moonlight Paddle most years; several of them being full moon paddles. In addition every year there are numerous one-day river trips on Class I or II streams; mostly during the prime Arkansas river season from late March to late June. We had over 13 lake events and 9 river trips on the 2022 Schedule for Club members. In 2023 the Club had its first two-day trip to the Buffalo River.
Upon request by members, special learning sessions can be conducted on either lakes or rivers to enhance paddling knowledge and skills.
Depending on skill level and paddling experience a member may participate in lake activities and/or river activities. River activities are currently limited to Class I and II waters. More detailed information about Club purpose, goals, and governance are contained in the Articles of Association and By-Laws which can be found on our Forms/Legal page.
Should you decide to join our water adventures it would be helpful if you would reply back via email with a bit of information about your boat(s) and paddling experience. This would allow us to see that you are in contact with Members having the same paddling preferences.
