SUMMARY:Club Annual General/Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Club Annual General/Membership Meeting will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday\, February 17\, 2024. The meeting place is the same as the last 2 years\, the Unitarian Universalist Village Church at 403 Barcelona Rd.  At this general meeting we will discuss procedures and potential events for the upcoming paddling year. There will be a verbal survey for some potential activities such as the Coast Guard Kayak Safety Program (~2 hours). \n\nThe Paddlers Club Board has decided that with participation levels of last year it will be best to make both lake and river paddling events less formal. For most events you will not need to make a “reservation”\, you will just show up at the assigned meeting place and time. As such there will be no Event Planner and event bulletins will generally not be issued. Notices for paddling activities will be via email and HSVPaddlersClub website. \nA vote for the proposed Board of Directors for the Club will be conducted at the beginning of the annual meeting.  Proposed Directors are:  President – Calvin Doody\, Vice President – Duane Hecklesberg\, Treasurer – Buzz Carpenter\, Secretary – Linda Worack\, and Trips Coordinator – Debbie Morrison but nominations “from the floor” will certainly be accepted.\nAttached is the Club Membership package. Please print out the 2 forms\, fill them out\, sign/initial where appropriate\, and either bring them to the meeting or mail them prior to the meeting as indicated on the form. SUMMARY:May 20th\, 2023 - Annual Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:If you are planning to join the Club this year\, please attend the Annual Meeting on May 20. In order to vote at the Meeting\, you will need to submit your membership package between 12:45 and 1:05 PM at the meeting place. (Membership Package is under the Forms/Legal tab on this website.) So to avoid delays\, please have your membership package completely filled out and a check or cash for dues ready when you arrive (12:45 to 1:05 PM). If you cannot attend the meeting and intend to join\, please USPS mail your membership package to the address shown on the first page of the package. \nMembers who have submitted their membership package will first vote on the Revised Articles of Association and develop an advisory vote on the By-Laws. Then the proposed slate of Club directors will be announced and voted on. A Club event Planning document for 2023 will be presented (if not distributed via email sooner) and discussed. Other recommended business items will be handled and then\, upon adjournment\, those who wish may join in a paddle on Lake DeSoto. Note that the Club email list will be updated by May 30 to contain only those who have joined the Club for 2023. \nThe Club Board will be asking for volunteers to handle paddling event administration/coordination. It is hoped that everyone will share in the event administration of this volunteer organization by stepping forward to coordinate at least one event.\nFor river events and lakes outside HSV this involves developing the event flyer and submitting it for distribution to Club members about 7 days in advance of the event. Then the volunteer will keep a list of the participants as they indicate their event participation via email. Meanwhile\, they will assign one of the participants (usually with the most experience on the specific river) as the “On-The-Water” leader.\nFor lake events in the Village\, any member will just advise other Club members where and when they will be paddling and issue an invitation to join in the activity. This is intended to be much less formal than last year. However\, a brief safety talk of 2 to 5 minutes is still expected to remind participants of the need to wear their PFD and stay with the group\, etc.. There may be an assigned “On-The-Water” lead and even a “Sweep” for larger groups. \nFullscreen Mode
